It’s recommended to use email addresses with your church domain. For instance, “pastorjohn@ourchurch.com” is easier to remember and more professional than “pastorjohn487@comcast.net”
We can set up as many of these custom emails for you as you like, and you will be able to access your email either online or from your office computers once they have been set up. On most modern software this isn’t hard.
We use Google for Non-Profits to set up email for our church clients. This is a free version of Google’s premium service called “Google for Work” and includes premium version of most of Google’s services. We’ll help you get set up if you’re not already a member of Google for Non-Profits; all we need is your denomination’s EIN and access to your domain.
The reason we set up all of clients’ mail on Google for Non-Profits is because of the quality of Gmail’s web based interface, and the rock solid deliverability rates that Gmail provides. So you’ll be using custom emails (pastor@yourchurch.com), but with the Gmail backend and web user interface.
If you already have custom domain emails set up on your current website, we can transfer the addresses over, but possibly not the actual emails. Depending on what you’re currently using for email, sometimes we can transfer those emails into Google, and sometimes we can’t. You can save and access those any of your emails offline with a program like Microsoft Outlook. Just download the emails before the site transfer and you can access them as long as you have that backup. However, the email messages are attached to the old website. See the training videos area for information on how to do this.
If you are using a 3rd party email provider with your custom email domain (such as Godaddy Mail), we will transfer those settings automatically. New email addresses can be added using your 3rd party provider. However, if you’d like to use Google for Non-Profits instead, please let your project manager know. This can be done at any time, but as above, if you switch from your former service to ours, you’ll probably lose access to your previous email messages unless you back them up.
These changes can go “live” whenever is most convenient for your church.
